On Thursday, April 15, 2021, after final votes came in from all corners of the world, Birch Freeman High School, Surulere, representing Lagos state, won the national virtual debate organized by Association for Credible Leadership in Nigeria (ACLN), with 4538 votes. Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife, representing Osun state, came second, with 3961 votes, while Government College, Ibadan, representing Oyo state, came third, with 3716 votes.

Debate topic: Nigeria has the resources, the ability, and the people to grow into an economic superpower

Dear Fellow Old Boys,

On behalf of BIFOBA president and the National Executive Council, I have the honour and privilege to thank and congratulate all of you for your contributions in all ways, which led to the success of our Homecoming and Thanksgiving Ball.

The president has directed and the National Executive Council has approved that in keeping with our revered tradition our General Meeting for May 2018 is hereby cancelled. We are enjoined to use this period to observe our well-deserved rest.

However, please be informed that our next General Meeting will be Sunday, June 10, 2018. All members whose birthdays fall in May and June will be celebrated on that day.

This release serves as a "Happy birthday" wish to all members born in May.

3295588481?profile=originalThis is to formally announce our 2018 Homecoming Dinner scheduled for Saturday, April 28, 2018 with a Theme The House Ball”. This year's Homecoming will not only focus on school houses but also on graduating sets too, and, also, center on one of the traditions of our school i.e. old boys dressing in full national colors or in western in the colors of their respective School Houses (Dada-White, Momah-Maroon, Solarin- Green, and Soremekun-Yellow), with a touch of gold or silver. House survey will also be done at the event to foster healthy competition amongst the houses.

Celebrating Sets:

The following sets are identified as the sets to celebrate in 2018 Homecoming and are being notified formally with a deadline to accept or decline.

The sets:

  • 1968- 50 Years,
  • 1973 – 45 Years,
  • 1978 – 40 Years,
  • 1983 – 35 Years,
  • 1988 – 30 Years, and
  • 1993 – 25 Years.

1. BIFOBA president, Barr. Kingsley Essien, has constituted a Homecoming Committee as follows: Mr. Ajai-Ikhile Dada (Chairman), Dr. Wale Onabowale, Mr. Olise-Emeka Nwachukwu, Mr. Lanre Hassan, Mr. Mike Mogaha, Mr. Abraham Idowu, and Mr. Bayo Bakare.

2. Hurray! BIFOBA Insurance Policy is up and running. Please contact the National Welfare Secretary, Mr. Lanre Hassan at 08025357550 or 09099541952, for details of the insurance policy.

3. BIFOBA President, Barr. Kingsley Essien, has also constituted an "Auditorium and Maintenance" Committee as follows: Arc. Ladi Lewis (Chairman), Mr. Williams Areo, Mr. Chiedu Emboagu, Mr. Funso Peters, and Mr. Akintunde Munis.

4. BIFOBA National Executive Committee has employed Mr. Faloju as a Maintenance and Utility Staff for the Multi-Purpose Hall. Mr. Faloju has started working and has received his first salary.

BFHS New Principal: Mrs. Oluwakemi Oke

Mrs. Oluwakemi Oladele Oke is the new Principal of Birch Freeman High School, replacing Mrs. Mojirade Babatunde who just retired.  Mrs. Oke is also the wife of an Old Boy Prof. Wale Oke, a member of the Guild of awardees. The information of Mrs. Oke posting was first mentioned to Olise-Emeka Nwachukwu, BIFOBA Publicity Secretary, by Tosin Adebulu, a younger Old Boy. The information was shared with the BIFOBA Executive Committee, BIFOBA president, Barr. Kingsley Essien, and former president Mr. Feyisola Dinyo. The president and Mr. Feyi Dinyo recalled seeing Mrs. Oke at BFHS recent event and were excited about the new development.

Mrs. Oke, after resumption, was invited to the BIFOBA Executive Meeting to share her plans for the school, which has been a tradition after posting of new Principal. Mrs. Oke Oluwakemi Oladele Oke at the meeting briefly shared how she was posted to BFHS and was excited. She had once taught at BFHS before returning to the
