On Friday, November 17, 2017, Elder Cornelius Taiwo Padonu was laid to rest at Atan Cemetary in Sabo, Lagos.
The late Mr. Padonu was of the 1966 set and a member of Soremekun House. He was the 3rd BIFOBA (National) President who took over the mantle of leadership from the late Prince Olu Orefajo. He was admitted to the Prestigious BIFOBA Guild of Awardees in April 2017 at the National Homecoming Ball held in Lagos, Nigeria.
Mr. Padonu died at age 71. He is the first recipient of the celebrated BIFOBA Funeral Tradition ceremony, where his wife was presented BIFOBA flag and his Guild of Awardees medal.

The 1992 set is developing a Football Pitch for Birch Freeman High School in celebration of their Silver Jubilee (25 years graduation from BFHS).

BIFOBA will celebrate our school's 57th Founders' Day Anniversary in a grand style on Monday, February 6, 2017. The theme for 2017 Founders' Day Celebration - Getting The Best Out Of Students: My Experience - will be delivered by a renowned educationist Mrs Oluwayemisi Omowo: a former teacher and vice principal at Birch Freeman High School (BFHS). She will be speaking to BIFOBA members, parents, teachers and students.
Mrs O. Omowo made a great impact in the development of young boys to gentlemen at BFHS, and her memory is still held in awe by the old boys who partook in her tutelage.
Following the recent 100% success of Birch Freeman High School's finalists at the last WAEC examination, BIFOBA intends to go beyond the 100% academic success mark in young men's education (in character and learning) at BFHS by placing BFHS as one of the foremost high schools to be reckoned with among the Ivy league schools in the nation.

According to Mr. Oluremi Oludotun, the publicity secretary of the group, the group is now vibrant and constructive and open to all old boys who passed out in 1982. He said that the objective of the group in 'sub-summed' the objective of the global body. Mr. Oludotun added, "We are part of the whole."

Birch Freeman High School, with many other high schools in Lagos, Nigeria, participated in the National Television Authority (NTA) Educational Program tagged "WORK IT OUT" and won the first and the third prizes of the competition. Below are the photographs of the BFHS winners.

In June 2016, School & Community Assistance for Recycling & Composting Education (SCARCE), a charity organization in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, USA, donated books worth of thousands of dollars in various subjects of learning to Birch Freeman High School (BFHS), Lagos, (Surulere) Nigeria. Ms. Bev Jaszczurowski, Director of Communication and Business Development for SCARCE, delivered the books to Rev. Olufemi Morgan, the past president of North America Chapter.

During the North America chapter's reunion event in Chicago July 2016, Rev. Femi Morgan presented the books to the chapter. According to Rev. Morgan, the donated books would be shared with BFHS' sister school: Methodist Girls High School (MGHS), Lagos, (Yaba) Nigeria. The donated books would help to brighten the future of students of BFHS/MGHS by providing them additional high-quality books for the best education possible. 6th February this year falls on a Saturday however, based on recent developments in the School, BIFOBA and the Nation at large and given the need to continuously showcase our School and make same relevant amongst the comity of respectable Schools (considered to be in our League), Exco has scheduled a 2-Day Event to commemorate the 56th Anniversary.

Distinguished old boys of the school from all walks of life both home and abroad will converge at the 1,500 capacity (banquet setting) multipurpose hall of the school built by the Old Boys' Association.
Day 1 of the event will begin with a Seminar on Employability and Entrepreneurship by Mr. Tope Toogun, while Mrs Abisola Longe will speak on Productivity + Living your dream life. The attendees will benefit from these lectures by seasoned professionals as it would equip and make them self-reliant for future challenges.

First Ever BFHS Valedictory Ceremony

Recently, the first ever valedictory/graduation ceremony, with deep involvement of BIFOBA, took place in the school’s Multi Purpose Auditorium, which is still under construction. Present at the valedictory ceremony: Mr. Feyisola Dinyo (BIFOBA president), Barr. Kingsley Essien (Vice-president School Affairs), principals of both BFHS' Senior & Junior Schools, Head Prefect, and many other BIFOBA national executives. Also, present for the event was a representative of German "Goethe" Institute, an institute that recently chose BFHS for a “Pilot School” program in Nigeria for students who are interested in learning German language. The "pilot school" is an academic exchanged program signed between Nigeria and Gemany, BIFOBA President, Mr Feyisola Dinyo, informed.
